"By way of necessity not chance we realised Granny flats in WA were far behind"
Jeff Brooks and Peter Triechel

Long-time friends and directors of 'Ecoflats' Jeff Brooks and Peter Triechel came across an opportunity by way of necessity more so than chance. It all came about when Peter decided that long term visits by his overseas parents placed so much pressure on his wife and children all living under the one roof that something had to be done.

To ease the cramped living arrangements and provide everyone their own independent space Peter decided to have a granny flat built in the backyard. Peter started getting quotes from the big name 'Granny flat builders' and soon realised what they were offering was nothing what he wanted. He found they were very basic in design and specifications, the construction material was inferior for our climate and you were treated more like a number than a client.

That's where Jeff came into the picture, Jeff a builder with over 20 years experience working with some of WA's leading builders and using the latest building products and techniques decided to help Peter not just as a friend but as a client too, together they researched, designed and built a granny flat that offered WOW factor design appeal, cost effectiveness and such high ratings in thermal energy efficiency. This wasn't the start of just 'Ecoflats' this was the start of a revolutionary new way in building granny flats in Western Australia.
